Alpine Glow

The mountains chill
heralds in
the coming Equinox
mid September painted in
smokey purple
vibrant yellows
dew soaked greens

We eat the last of the blueberries
Concentrated sweetness
Dark smiles
Inky fingers

Pastel landscapes
interface
with fine neon thread
a matrix woven
of misty lake abyss
coiled roots
bright lichen
gloss of fern

Our laughter like a roar
A wild call of friendship
echos
into unseen dimensions
sound as balm
song of belonging

We share and eat food with the enthusiasm of whiskey jacks
we chirp and flit
with glee and grace
Our love for each other
unapologetic
safe and holy ground

We circle round
take our turns
in the wheel of ascent and descent
the new love
the dying ones
troubles and triumphs
spinning us round
the great and painful sluffing off
the polishing

I give myself to the mountains
to this life
to the web of relationship
holding and holding and holding me here.
