Write For Your Life:
The Harvest Season Edition

Embodied Practice. Compassionate Process. Writing for Turbulent Times
An 8-Week Online Writing Container

As the light begins to wane and we return to the season of descent, writing our bodies, hearts and heads onto the page can be a way to steady ourselves, to stay aligned with our personal truths, and to forge our own unique way forward in times that require our attention.

Attention is the beginning of devotion.

These words, from Mary Oliver are a constant beacon in my world.

Such a beacon that on my 40th birthday, I had them tattooed on my left forearm; a daily reminder that this simple act of what I give my attention to, grows, has the capacity to shift my very reality.

And here’s the thing, the world needs your devotion. The world needs your engagement, your care and curiosity. The practice of writing can help us cultivate our aliveness. In this container we also receive the gift of witnessing that aliveness in the other. When we gather and share our stories, we can co-create a new vision, a shared vision.

I really believe in this.

Please join me in this 8-week online writing container, intended to reconnect you to what matters. Each week we will meet online for 2 hours. There will be a led grounding/meditation/visualization, an opportunity to check in, weekly themes and prompts to support. There will be opportunities to share (always encouraged but absolutely optional).

In addition to the weekly calls, there will be 4 x co-writing calls (dates TBD), to work on projects, hold each other accountable and expand on the work of our calls.

You don’t have to identify as a writer to join, the emphasis is on process rather than craft. All weekly calls will be recorded and sent out within 48hours with a follow-up email including links to authors shared, and podcast recommendations.

Date: Wednesdays 10am-12pm Oct 8th– Nov 26th

The Guest House:
A Creative Immersion into our
Emotional Landscape

Feeling our feelings is easy enough to talk about, but what does that actually mean?

What is the texture of sorrow, the colour of joy? What is the somatic expression of gratitude?

How do we know when we are feeling anger or shame and how do we meet these emotions with new eyes and greater holding?

In this intimate gathering we will explore these emotional landscapes through conversation, embodied meditation, writing and art.

The intention of this offering is to guide participants into greater emotional literacy.

Over the 5 sessions we will create 5 art cards, one for each emotion explored, as well as some self-generated language/poetry to more skillfully meet and attend to our emotions as they inevitably arise.

A fusion of psychoeducation, community connection, and creative process, participants will leave feeling more capacitated and skillful to meet their emotions with spaciousness, care and inclusion.

Space is limited to 6 participants

Date: Every other Thursday beginning Sept 25th (Oct 9th & 23rd, Nov 6th & 20th)

Time: 930-1130am

Price: sliding scale $300-$350
(includes art supplies and snacks)

Location: Bridge Wellness Collective 168C 5th Street (in the same building as Euspira)

The Paradox of Being Human

To be human is to be at times awash in confusion, at odds with ambiguity, nuance and complexity.

In fact, many of life’s most important truths appear contradictory on the surface.

Our very human quest for truth and meaning, despite our best intentions, can lead us astray at times. You see, humans are wired to seek out certainty and safety for our own survival.

But true ground is an inside job, and our external searching can leave us feeling rigid, calcified, defensive, righteous and/or shutdown, stuck in either/or perspectives.

This only creates greater divisiveness.

What we need more than ever right now is the ability to widen our lens, so that we may hold the tension of opposites with curiosity and care.

This is where possibility lives.

This is how we change.

How can we anchor into a sense of ground, access more resource in ourselves, so that we can meet our lives, and each other with greater curiosity?

How can we learn to hold many truths at once, be ok with not knowing, discomfort, and connect with the part of ourselves that trusts in the pulsation and rhythms inherent in our lives?

These are the questions we will explore and embody in this 8 week journey held at The Doghouse this coming fall.

Each weekly 2-hour class will include a focused theme, group conversation, meditation, writing prompts, somatic movement practices, poetry and deep rest.

There will be a community feed on Telegram to help carry you through the week with podcasts, articles, prompts and opportunities to stay connected to the group.

If this speaks to you please reach out to reserve your space.
